Why it will not turn your skin green

Most "gold" jewelry is a thin plating over brass, and brass is roughly two-thirds copper - which is what reacts with skin and leaves a green mark once the plating wears through. Gold vermeil is different, and the difference is legally defined: sterling silver underneath, at least 10k gold, at least 2.5 microns thick. There is no brass anywhere in it.
